OLD FRIEND IS BACK

So Double Maxim is back.

Some will regard the return of Vaux’s most famous beer rather as they would that of a much-loved, reliable friend – always there, consistent and company to be enjoyed.

Others may be more cautious, remembering how this companion needs to be treated with respect – and that if abused it can kick like a mule. Many’s the bruise that was Maxim-induced.

But it’s great news. Another survivor has emerged from the rubble of Sunderland’s late lamented brewery.
